This past Thursday, December 8th, the Dance NYC Junior Committee threw a Holiday Party to mingle with the Dance NYC Advisory Committee. The party followed the Advisory Committee’s meeting and took place in a space that is now quite familiar to us, our monthly meeting spot at the Mertz Gilmore Foundation. Justina brought her computer that looped a burning yule log on the TV, many of the Junior Committee members brought food including Hollis’ decadent blondies, and the fundraising raffle proved that the more tickets you have, the more likely your name will get drawn. It was wonderful to have one on one conversations with the different Advisory Committee members, our cohorts at Dance NYC, and entertain possible ways the Junior Committee can contribute to their endeavors. All in all, the evening had all the components of a good holiday party- good company, good food, and a virtual burning yule log. And special thanks to Jessica who spearheaded it all!
Of course, this time of year provides ample opportunities for holiday parties. Most of us have a few in our calendars (stay tuned for more about calendars in my next Member Blog on Wednesday). And following our Holiday Party, I had one more party in my schedule to attend. Doors opened at 8:00pm to accommodate the 2,500 RSVP’s and the “party” started at 10:00pm. You ask, what kind of party could this be with so many people? The answer- a screening of the dance film Girl Walk //All Day hosted by Kickstarter at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple.
